Habitat for Humanity International is a Christian organization and welcomes volunteers from all faiths who are committed to Habitat's goal of eliminating poverty housing.

Scott County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build quality, affordable housing. The houses are sold to those in need at no profit with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individuals and organizations provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families must provide 300 hours of "Sweat Equity" labor to help build their homes. Their mortgage payments also help to build additional houses.

The Habitat for Humanity International website contains more information on Habitat's history, mission, volunteer opportunities and contact information for other Habitat affiliates around the world.
